The archeological museum of Odessa Ukraine is one of the oldest in the country, and founded in 1825. The Odessa Society of history, which was created in 1839 and antiquities, which possessed the right to conduct excavation in the South of Russia, promoted development of an archeological museum.
It is stored over 160 thousand exhibits in Odessa archeological museum. Here there are collections of monuments of Ancient Egypt, the Ancient Greece and Rome, coins and medals, instruments of work, subjects of a life, remains of ancient Greeks, Romans and the Scythians, found during excavation in the Odessa area, tell to us ancient history of those times.
Odessa Archeological museum exhibits original things from precious metals, most ancient of them concern to the beginning of the second century B.C. Ornament from Scythian and Sarmatian burial grounds, medieval burials of nomads. From 50 thousand the coins stored a museum on a review most rare of gold and the silver, issued in the Ancient Greece, Rome, Byzantium are exposed.
The art museum of Odessa has been opened in 1899 under the initiative of the Odessa society of fine arts, located in the center of Odessa, above the sea, in a palace, a being monument of architecture of the beginning of XIX century and having an artificial underground grotto.
The collection of the Odessa art museum covers all kinds of the fine arts: painting, a sculpture, arts and crafts, including products of Russian and Ukrainian icon masters from XVI century up to the present, totaling more than 10 thousand original works. The exposition of an art museum is located in 26 halls. It is constructed in chronological sequence with observance of a monographic principle of display of works of each author.
The Odessa state literary museum was based in 1977 and opened for visitors in 1984. It is one of the largest regional literary museums in Ukraine. The main founder of a museum became the largest Kiev designer, artist Anatoly Gajdamaka.
The building in which the literary museum is located, has been built in the middle of XIX century and there was a palace of prince Gagarin. The building has not lost the architectural value. The collection of a museum includes approximately 40 thousand exhibits.
The exposition of a literary museum is based in twenty halls where each hall is an artistic image of decade to which it is devoted. An exposition of a museum - system of symbols and signs in which real documents of time are entered: photos, books, newspapers, magazines, personal things of writers, manuscripts, subjects of an epoch. The museum represents more than three hundred literary names - from Ivan Kotlyarevsky, Alexander Pushkin, Adam Mickiewicz up to Henry Bellja, Konstantin Simonov, Boris Pasternak.
